Hillary Clinton is great at selfies, and she knows it. She takes the phone from selfie solicitors, opts for that universally flattering, slightly above angle, and always gets the perfect shot. “I was not great at this before I started this campaign, but I’ve gotten a lot better,” she told Ellen DeGeneres in January. “So I’ll take it and I’ll say, ‘OK, let’s do it.’ And I reverse it, and hold it up, and everything.”
Clinton relishes the personal moments that come with running for president — one part of campaigning that’s taken a hit in the selfie era. “I’ll shake hands with somebody and they’ll say, ‘You know, I want to tell you about …,’ and then they’ll tell me about their child with addiction problems, their parent with Alzheimer’s. They will really share that moment,” she said. “That has diminished greatly because of the selfie.” Still, she’s going with it, and Clinton knows her angles.
