Here's what Huda Kattan thinks of Kim Kardashian's KKW Beauty kits

“This is definitely going to replace my other contour kits.”

Huda Kattan, the blogger turned beauty mogul, is “very impressed” with the new KKW Beauty powder contour and highlight kits, revealing as much during a product review she posted to her Instagram story on Aug. 17, ahead of the product’s Aug. 22 public release.

Kattan — who admitted she hadn’t been the biggest fan of Kim Kardashian’s creme contour kits (“for whatever reason, it didn’t jive for me that much”) that the KKW Beauty team released earlier in 2017 — was more enthusiastic about the KKW powder collection. After some initial skepticism surrounding what appeared to be “chalky” powder swatches, Kattan says she is pleased with the product.

“When I dipped my swatch into the pan, there was a lot of fallout,” Kattan says. “I thought, ‘Uh-oh, this isn’t going to be good.'” She continues: “But it blends so beautifully. The highlighter is really nice, a natural kind of highlight.”

Other appealing parts of the KKW product, says Kattan: Its long-lasting wearability and, perhaps Kattan’s favorite part, the detachable brush heads.

“Kim, if you’re watching this, you need to do a whole line of brushes. They pick up makeup really nicely.”

For all her praise, Kattan did offer a suggestion to Kardashian: customizable palettes, not unlike MAC Pro Palettes. Kattan says shoppers would be able to choose the products they want placed together in one kit, instead of purchasing a predetermined palette with products that may not suit a particular consumer.

(Yahoo Beauty reached out to the KKW Beauty and Huda Beauty teams for comment and will update this story if they respond.)

The two beauty magnates, whose respective lines are both enormously popular despite their recent launches relative to established beauty brands, met for lunch in Los Angeles — a somewhat surprising outing considering the two are near-direct competitors. Both Kattan and Kardashian sell beauty kits marketed and priced similarly, though Kattan does not sell contour kits specifically. KKW Beauty’s original creme contour kits retail for $48, while her new kit will sell for $52; Huda Beauty highlighter palettes retail for $45.

It’s certainly not the first time beauty enthusiasts and the media have compared the two women. Before Kardashian launched KKW Beauty, the New York Times called Kattan “a Kim Kardashian West of the beauty influencer economy.”

But it seems that Kardashian has emerged to claim that title for herself — apparently with Kattan’s blessing.
