Get Her Look: Margot Robbie

Though she walked the red carpet resembling one of the evening’s titular statuettes, the key words for Margot Robbie’s Oscar beauty look were “fresh and effortless,” according to her makeup artist Tyron Machhausen, while hairstylist Renato Campo wanted “soft and modern” hair to accompany her Tom Ford gown.

“I created her look as if she just came off the beach and threw on an amazing gown meets classic American fashion model Margaux Hemingway,” Machhausen said. Even for a fresh-faced beauty like Robbie, there is a little bit of work involved with this sun-kissed look.

He began by massaging RéVive Intensité Crème Lustre Day all over her face and priming it with Laura Mercier Foundation Primer – Radiance. He mixed the Butterscotch and Dune colors of the new Laura Mercier Candleglow Soft Luminous Foundation and then made her glow with Tom Ford Skin Illuminating Powder Duo.

Robbie’s eyes were kept very natural, with a tiny bit of Tom Ford Creme Color for Eyes and Kevyn Aucoin Essential Mascara. He brushed her brows up to shape them. A very subtle Laura Mercier Velour Lovers Lip Colour in Sensual completed the look.

“Because the dress was very structural, I wanted to keep Margot very soft and modern; almost minimalist and very feminine,” Campo said.

After applying Matrix Total Results High Amplify Foam Volumizer to Robbie’s wet hair through the roots, he blow dried it with a Y.S. Park round brush. He created those subtle bends in her hair with a 1 ¼-inch curling iron. That lift at her crown is thanks to Amika Haute Mess Texture Gel, and Aquage Sea Salt Texturizing Salt spray applied throughout her hair gave it a “lived-in” texture. Matrix Total Results High Amplify Hairspray added volume and held everything in place for the rest of the evening.
