Get Her Look: Jennifer Garner
The epitome of class and sophistication, Jennifer Garner was a clear standout stunner while walking down the red carpet at the 2016 annual Academy Awards. The 43-year-old star showed off her gorgeous neckline in an off-the-shoulder Versace dress and a modest updo created by hairstylist Ben Skervin for Fekkai.
“We had considered leaving her hair down with some beautiful old-Hollywood waves, but with the neckline of her dress, I figured we should do a beautifully textured updo, with a modern Grace Kelly vibe instead,” Skervin tells Yahoo Beauty.
To get the look, he applied the Fekkai Blowout Primer ($20) and Fekkai Full Blown Volume Lightweight Styling Whip ($20) to Garner’s wet hair, and then blew it dry with a large round brush to add volume. Once hair was fully dried, Sverkin squared off sections, curled hair with an inch-wide curling wand, and brushed out the ringlets into softer waves.
Afterward, the stylist sprayed in the Fekkai Blowout Hair Refresher Dry Shampoo ($20) at the roots to create texture before backcombing the top sections of her hair at the root. Once her hair was prepped, he pulled it straight back into a ponytail just above the nape of the neck and secured with a bungee elastic. Then he backcombed the loose ends and wrapped it around the elastic until the bun shape was complete, securing the bun with both straight and V-shaped bobby pins.
For the final, indispensable step, Sverkin spritzed Garner’s hair with Fekkai Sheer Hold Hairspray ($20) to preserve the style. “My worst fear is for my client to walk out on the red carpet and for the bun to begin falling out,” he explains. “That’s why I always use the sheer hairspray to tuck in fly-aways and keep everything in place.”
