Cate Blanchett trusts her hairstylist more than the average woman does. We know this because she allowed Robert Vetica to give her that head-turning bob the day of the Oscars.

“This is one of the reasons I love this woman so much! I mean who cuts their hair the day of?” Vetica, of Wella Professionals, said. “She is bold and makes her regal presence known.”

The wavy, feminine style of her hair was inspired by 1940s and ’50s photographer Lillian Bassman and perfectly complements the Best Actress nominee’s feather-adorned, sea-foam green Armani Privé gown.

After washing the Carol star’s hair with Wella Professionals Elements Renewing Shampoo and Daily Renewing Conditioner, Vetica applied EIMI Perfect Setting blow-dry lotion for strength and hold. He divided her hair into two parts, applied Wella Professionals EIMI Thermal Image and curled each section with a 1-inch curling iron before setting them each in Velcro rollers at a diagonal away from Blanchett’s face and spraying with EIMI Stay Essential Finishing Spray. He left the rollers in for 45 minutes, removed them, and brushed through the curls gently, using a blow dryer to loosen them a bit. One more application of EIMI Stay Essential Finishing Spray kept the look in place for the rest of Blanchett’s big night.
