We’re all used to seeing some gorgeous hairdos in Game of Thrones, but this time, the hair inspiration at the show’s premiere blew us away. Since short hair can often be styled only one way, it was exciting to see Dove celebrity hairstylist Mark Townsend style Lena Headey’s super-short hair into what he calls a “faux updo.”

It can be nearly impossible to style short hair into an updo, so Townsend’s creation is definitely a head turner. Headey’s hair appears to have been put into tiny twists secured by tons of bobby pins, which create an edgy vibe. Townsend revealed the style via Instagram, captioning the photo, “Show your pins! Short hair #fauxupdo for the gorgeous @iamlenaheadey for #GameofThrones premiere.”

According to Townsend, the look was intended as a classic Audrey Hepburn style and is relatively easy to create at home. “After blow-drying her hair, I took random pieces of the hair and twisted them,” he says. Then he used bobby pins to secure the twists and finished with Dove Style+Care Strength & Shine Extra Hold Hairspray ($5). “What makes it modern is the randomness of the twists and placing the pins haphazardly,” he explains.
