Forget The Body. These Days, It’s All About the Face

If you had to choose between having a younger-looking face or body, how would you decide? If you went with your face, you’re in the majority.  A new national survey found that nearly 60% of women surveyed would rather have a more youthful-looking face than a more youthful-looking body.

Like any survey, this one has a few details to note. First, the sample size is relatively small, covering 500 women aged 21 to 65. With that said, the women did come from diverse backgrounds, incomes, and regions of the country. Additionally, the survey was conducted by Wakefield Research on behalf of Allergan, the manufacturer of the popular facial filler Juvederm Voluma. That may explain why women were asked if they’ve noticed any decrease in volume or fullness in their cheeks in the past 10 years. (Forty-four percent had, if you’re wondering.)

Surprisingly, factors such as marital status and employment barely affected the responses—but geographic location did. Women in the Northeast chose face over body at a slightly higher rate than those in the South, Midwest, or West. That same group was the most likely to think there was no way to address lost volume in their faces. Coincidence? Maybe. But if we were in the Juvederm marketing department, we know exactly where we’d be spending our ad dollars next year.
