Fitness Instructor Fights Back with Kindness After She was Bullied for Wearing This Dress to Friend's Wedding

Nutrition and fitness coach Liz Krueger is fighting back after she says she was bullied for wearing a mini-dress to her friend's wedding last month.

The 31-year-old from Minneapolis posted a photo of herself on Instagram wearing a tight-fitting strapless dress and heels, noting how, without asking for it, attention was taken away from the bride and pointed toward her.

"If only I knew that choosing this dress for a wedding on a 90 degree day meant so many women would be outrightly rude to me, and even come up behind me slap my ass as I'm standing alone," she wrote. "As quote, 'It was a dare from her friends, bc I was a target.' And then proceed to spill a full beer spilt down my arm. Just one of maaaaany acts of kindness of the night!"

Krueger tells PEOPLE she felt very uncomfortable the entire night.

"I'm one of those people that's pretty strong. I'm someone when I don't feel comfortable I can usually stick it out but it was to the point where I was like I don't want to be here anymore," she says. "Especially after the incident happened, I was just ready to go."

But the brunette beauty wasn't letting haters bring her down for long.

Krueger also took to Facebook, impressed by the outpouring of support from her post on Instagram.

She posted: "Let this be a lesson to everyone. Your actions have consequences. People deserve respect, no matter what they are wearing. When these things happen to you, you have the RIGHT to talk about them, even when the person in the wrong "tells you your "story" is BS." Stand up for yourself. Don't be a quiet lamb. Be confident. Be strong. At the end of the day, know who you are, so when someone (or thousands of people) try to tell you different...you know you're right and they are wrong."

Still standing strong, Krueger is now promoting the hashtag #KruegerKindness to stop the kind of bullying she endured.

"Through my fitness, I've always been about empowering women and having them embracing each other and their bodies," she says. "When this happened, I felt like I needed to do something more for myself and for other people."

"I'm going to actively make it a priority to do good things for other women, every single day from here on out," she wrote on Instagram. "I'm hoping to inspire others to do the same, just as I have with fitness journey. Anything as simple as a complimenting a women daily, buying them a coffee/lunch, taking the time to speak to someone who's in a hard place, volunteering with girls who have been bullied, getting to know women deeper than surface level and making a point myself to not judge a book by its cover on a daily basis."

After posting, Krueger says there has been even more positive feedback and she is going to strive to make it a ripple effect.

She is now researching places in Minneapolis for women who have been bullied and is partnering with salons to do makeovers to make women feel good.

"I want everyone to know that an instance like this doesn't have to hold you down, you can just use it to turn it into good," she says.
