Fitness Blogger Rebecca Burger Reportedly Killed by a Can of Whipped Cream

A French fitness blogger was reportedly killed by an exploding can of whipped cream, several news outlets report.
Rebecca Burger, who was behind the website Rebecca B., died on June 18 following "an accident in the home," her family confirmed on her Instagram account. According to TMZ, the cause of death was a pressurized can of whipped cream that exploded and struck Burger in the chest, sending her into cardiac arrest. She was only 33 years old.
The BBC says that a whipped cream dispenser works by injecting gas into a metal container. Faulty connectors on the gas capsules can cause them to break off at a high speed. Injuries from these faulty connectors had previously been reported, according to the BBC, including broken teeth, bone fractures, and even the loss of an eye. One victim claims he suffered from six broken ribs and a broken sternum as a result of the exploding whipped cream can. However, Burger is the first known death from a faulty whipped cream can, according to USA Today.
The manufacturer of the can, Ard'time, said that all faulty cans were removed from production and destroyed when the first reports of injury surfaced in 2013, USA Today reports. Though efforts were made to inform consumers, "unfortunately, there are still lots of siphons of all brands that remain potentially dangerous as time passes," the company stated.
Burger's family posted an image of the faulty can to her Instagram account, which has 172,000 followers, with this warning: "Here is an example of a chantilly siphon that exploded and struck Rebecca's thorax, resulting in her death...Do not use this kind of utensil in your home! Several tens of thousands of defective devices still in circulation."
