Yesterday, Jennifer Aniston penned an essay in the Huffington Post, writing that she’s “fed up with the sport-like scrutiny and body shaming that occurs daily” in celebrity news.

She highlighted how she feels the objectification and scrutiny that women are put through is disturbing, writing, “Sometimes cultural standards just need a different perspective so we can see them for what they really are — a collective acceptance … a subconscious agreement. We are in charge of our agreement. Little girls everywhere are absorbing our agreement, passive or otherwise. And it begins early.”

Many celebrities weighed in with messages of support.

One of the first to chime in was Aniston’s husband, writer-actor-director Justin Theroux, with a sweet #WCW (woman crush Wednesday) post on his Instagram account. He shared a black-and-white photo of his wife, a link to her essay, and the hashtag #gogirl.

Ghostbusters star Melissa McCarthy addressed the essay on Entertainment Tonight, saying she is “one hundred thousand billion percent” behind Aniston.

“Everybody needs to stop tearing down women,” she said “It’s always about the way we look ― saying, ‘He’s very interesting,’ ‘He’s a good writer,’ ‘She’s looking older than she was last time we saw her.’ It’s a ridiculous thing. I just hope it gets to the point where it’s embarrassing for people to have such a shallow thought.”

Other celebs — including Olivia Wilde and good friend Jason Bateman — shared their support on Twitter.

And, of course, Piers Morgan, who continually seems incapable of any kind of empathy, had to get his two cents in. After admitting he’d met Aniston and found her delightful, he wrote in the Daily Mail, “Female stars like Jennifer Aniston deliberately perpetuate the myth of ‘perfection’ by posing for endless magazine covers which have been airbrushed so much that in some cases the celebrity is virtually unrecognizable.”

Chrissy Teigen weighed in while on vacation in Italy, and we’re just going to leave her tweet here, with a few choice words blurred out.
