We’re officially in the dead of winter, when it’s easier to grab your favorite pair of black jeans and gray sweater, and run out the door. But Emma Stone is here to prove that yellow may just be the best color to warm up your cool weather style, even if you’re a redhead—a hair color that’s notoriously hard to pair with bright colors (trust me, I’ve been there!).

Last night, Stone celebrated her Golden Globe nomination at a W Magazine party in Los Angeles, wearing a yellow off-the-shoulder floral printed gown by Gucci. Stone is nominated as Best Actress in a Comedy or Musical for her role in La La Land. She kept the look clean with a pink clutch and a stunning pair of rose gold-hued heeled sandals. She opted for minimal makeup with the exception of a warm pink lip, which effortlessly matched her clutch.

Yellow was all over the spring 2017 runways, with labels from Delpozo to Coach and Jason Wu experimenting with the color, so there’s no better time to try it out yourself. If you’re unsure of how to pull off the bold hue, look for added details that break up the silhouette and make it more approachable for real life. There’s a lot going on when it comes to Stone’s dress: A one sleeve situation, floral print, and ruffles that, when styled with the right complementary accessories, make the look fun and modern, perfect for daytime with a pair of tights and long coat, or for evening with strappy sandals and bare legs.
