Emily Ratajkowski Discusses How Being Sexy Affects Her Work Opportunities

From Harper's BAZAAR

Emily Ratajkowski has proven on several occasions that she knows how to own her sexuality. But that doesn't mean it can't also sometimes get in the way.

In an in-depth interview with London Evening Standard, the 24-year-old actress and model discussed how being sexy is "an interesting paradox."

"If you're a sexy actress it's hard to get serious roles." Ratajkowski explains. "You get offered the same thing that they've seen you in. People are like sheep and they're like 'Oh, that's what she does well.' What's so dumb is that women are 50 percent of the population and they want to spend money to see movies where they're portrayed as three-dimensional characters."

Preach, girl.

The interview also touches on Ratajkowski's short time growing up in London where she fell in love with theater and the arts, her feminist upbringing, her brush with high school mean girls, and her feelings about the "Blurred Lines" music video that made her a star.

Most notably, Ratajkowski discusses that infamous Kim Kardashian nude selfie, which she got involved in after responding to tweets from Piers Morgan: '[He was] talking about the fact Kim is 34 and a mother and that we're over seeing her in a sexual light, which I had a lot of problems with. He also implied that her husband [Kanye West] was writing her tweets, as if she isn't capable of writing them herself, which to me is incredibly sexist."
