"Disco Tits" Are Taking Over Coachella

Coachella sees your "free the nipple" and raises you... disco tits. A far cry from the usual sartorial default of native headdresses and bindis reeking of cultural appropriation — and don't even get us started on the waterfall braids and flash tats — disco tits are basically exactly what you would imagine them to be: encrusting your boobs and surrounding skin with tons of glitter and rhinestones, and then frolicking around the Palm Springs desert topless like C-3P0 at a rave, naturally.

It does make perfect logical sense to combine your so very extra festival lewk agenda plus a way to keep cool plus an eye-catching ensemble that ensures you will be photographed in festival style galleries. Celebrity sightings in their humble normcore attire have nothing on you.

It's not exactly a practical look in terms of doing... literally anything, but as we have all come to accept at this point, Coachella is its own style season, unique to festival goers, who care not for reality-based burdens like practicality, reality, or even basic amenities. And are we completely shocked? Nah. At the end of March we reported on the glitter butt trend — wherein people cover their bottoms with glitz — even before Coachella had gotten underway .

While bedazzling your breasts with glitter probably takes hours to complete (not even accounting for the time is take to photograph the spectacle before it melts off in the desert sun), it's still a sensible alternative to culturally appropriative accessorizing. We're taking disco tits as a sign that while music festivals continue to become more about the surrounding culture and commercial aspects, at least the creative spark is alive and blazing — and also naked.
