One man is taking #DadGoals to a whole new level with a brutally honest post about marriage and parenting a newborn.

Imgur user Avid Climber posted a candid photo of himself with his baby son resting on his bare chest while his wife slept next to him. Any new mother will recognize the "Oh, god, I need this nap" look on Avid Climber's lady's face – it's pure and complete exhaustion, a state live in 24/7 when you're mothering a newborn.

The new dad shared some sweet words about his miracle baby and dropped some good-hubby tips, too. "After winning a battle with testicular cancer last year we finally got our firstborn son," he wrote. "Pro tip: Real men take care of their baby while mommy takes as many naps as she needs. She's been through an ordeal! Suck it up, guys, and be her dream husband!"

The photo has been viewed nearly 450,000 times, upvoted over 10,000 points, and garnered 900 comments since it was first posted on Tuesday. The majority of comments debated whether or not Avid Climber's wife would kill (or had already killed) him for sharing the candid photo of her sleeping (with some dissenters saying that most moms would want these types of candid moments to be memorialized) and praised the poster for his enlightened parenting outlook.

Of course, this *is* the Internet, so there's always a dark side. A few negative voices chimed in, critiquing the post for "humblebragging" about something that all normal, not-terrible dads do.

The fact is, this attitude should be common sense for all men – but it isn't. It's in the same vein as the idea that a dad caring for his own children shouldn't be called "babysitting". Unfortunately, there's still an incongruent number of mothers staying home to care for children versus dads doing the same, and many people (men and women alike) continue to believe that it's primarily (or solely) a "woman's job" to care for her child. While this father's wise words shouldn't have to be said, they still need to be – and often.
