The Best Micellar Waters, According to Reddit

Like actual water, the best micellar waters can do it all. They are like the kryptonite of makeup and oil — you can squirt some on a cotton swab in the morning and use it to refresh your skin. At night, you can remove your makeup with the stuff, even liquid lipstick that doesn't budge for anything and waterproof mascara. If you're more of a face wipe person, you can follow that up with micellar water to remove any excess dirt and oil. It even helps remove build up on hair. The possibilities are truly endless, and the options are, too. Both drugstore and prestige brands are cranking out the stuff now. To help navigate the vast selection, a Redditor known as LadyBanterbury asked the AsianBeauty subreddit, "What's your favorite micellar water?" Her fellow skin care lovers offered up their K-Beauty and drugstore suggestions. We rounded up the most popular ones, including one that's less than $6.

Garnier SkinActive Micellar Cleansing Water All-in-1 Cleanser & Makeup Remover ($8.99)

"I use this every morning instead of washing with cleanser," tinybabybunnyrabbit wrote. "At night, I will use the Garnier SkinActive Micellar Cleansing Water All-in-1 Makeup Remover & Cleanser Review to cleanse first. Or if I didn't wear any sunscreen that day, sometimes I'll just cleanse with that only. I'm lucky to not be too prone to acne, and I find that cleansing even with something gentle really strips my skin. The trick I've read is to let the micellar water do the work. Don't drag the cotton pad too hard over your skin. Press into the skin."

Koh Gen Do Cleansing Spa Water ($39)

"Koh Gen Do's Cleansing Spa Water is my favorite micellar water," neymagica said. "I use it for everything. It's my only cleanser in the morning, it's a great makeup remover, handy as a wet wipe when eating greasy foods, and I use it as as a second PM cleanser on the days that I wear sunscreen or foundation just to catch anything that I missed. I keep the large pump bottle at home, and I use the 10 pack of wipes for travel."

Neogen Real Flower Cleansing Water Rose ($22)

"It does the job, and it is so pretty, ohmygod," a Redditor who goes by yakotta wrote. "It has flower petals just floating and swirling in it. I also use it at night before my oil cleanser, but only if I'm wearing a lot of makeup."

Bioderma Sensibio H2O ($14.90)

Do you take off your makeup the second you get home? This Redditor does, too. "I use this micellar water whenever I come home early as a sort of pre-cleansing stage," 1millionpesos said. Another user known as donbell likes to use it to completely clean her face when she doesn't wear makeup. Then, she follows it up with face wash.

Simple Micellar Cleansing Water ($5.97)

"It's inexpensive, and it's in a huge bottle. If you're in the U.S., nearly every drugstore carries it, and the ingredient list is simple with the added bonus of having chamomile and niacinamide. Good stuff," raved a Redditor called autumngirlsoup. Another user caffeinatedlackey agrees. "The Simple Micellar Cleansing Water removes overnight residue in the morning and makeup when I get home from work," they wrote. "It's a refreshing and gentle way to 'reset' my skin."

Son & Park Beauty Water ($30)

racoondownthestairs has used several of the best micellar waters on the market, including some mentioned above, but the Son & Park Beauty Water, which was created by two Korean MUAs, is their current fave. "I like how gentle and moisturizing the Beauty Water is, as well as the packaging," they wrote on the thread.
