Some runway beauty looks spawn trends that trickle down into every day use (ahem no-makeup makeup, berry lipstick, and fishtail braids). But most of the more extreme looks are sensational on the catwalk but don’t translate very easily in the real world. Take, for example, the bedazzled lids and brows French designers have become so fond of. Chanel’s creative director of makeup, Peter Philips, made full brows made of crystal stones for the brand’s fall 2012 show. And makeup master Pat McGrath sent down models with breathtaking, custom crystal-adorned lids in Dior’s fall 2011 haute couture show and spring 2013 presentation. But can this runway statement be worn by mere mortals?

As the holidays approach and beauty brands attempt to inject extra sparkle into their products, Benefit has certainly upped the ante. The only question remaining: who will be brave enough to try it off the runway?
