Airbnb Host Sends the Most Racist, Hateful Message to Potential Guest

From Cosmopolitan

Time reports that Airbnb has permanently banned a host after he sent hateful, racist messages to a black woman who tried to book a room with him in North Carolina.

The apartment sharing service took action after a woman named Shani Taylor-a friend and classmate of the woman who received the messages-posted a picture of the conversation to Twitter:

USA Today reported that Airbnb spokesman Nick Papas released a statement that read, "We were horrified when we read these messages. The language and conduct are unacceptable and violate both our policies and everything we believe in. This host has been removed from Airbnb and we've reached out to the guest to offer our full and complete support, including ensuring the guest has a safe place to stay."

Airbnb CEO Brian Chesky similarly reacted on Twitter:

Meanwhile, the hashtag #AirbnbWhileBlack started to trend on Twitter, with alternatives like NoirBnb - which billed itself as, "the future of black travel" - have already popped up.
