One way to be remembered as a beauty queen is to look perfect in your senior class photos — and to make it perfectly clear that no one loves products more. For Janssen Mendoza, a 19-year-old graduating senior in the Philippines, that meant posed for her portrait in mid-highlighter application, complete with palette and fan brush.

Mendoza chose her favorite Anastasia Beverly Hills Glow in Sun Dipped palette to share in her spotlight. She told Seventeen.com that the idea was inspired by a Twitter user who also used the special occasion to showcase a makeup look. “This girl posted her senior photo putting an eyeshadow. So I decided to have my own version,” she said.

James Charles, CoverGirl’s first male spokesmodel, landed his major beauty contract in part due to his own beauty lover’s senior portrait antics. He brought a ring light to picture day — because is there anything more important than highlighter that pops?

For Mendoza, it was important to combine her favorite product and her academic excellence. “I posted this picture to show that I could pursue my love for makeup while excelling in academics,” she told Seventeen. “I’m a full scholar and a candidate for honors. I just want to prove to others that I can do both.” Point proven, and all it took was a grad gown and a makeup palette.
