A New Reason to Love Lavender

Lavender’s one hard-core herb. Its scent has been shown to alleviate anxiety, depression, and sleeplessness. It can even help control pain. And, according to a new study, it may also promote feelings of trust.

In a study recently published in Frontiers in Psychology, participants performed a trust game that involved money. They were split up into three rooms: one scented with lavender, one infused with a peppermint smell, one odorless. The people in the lavender-scented room were significantly more inclined to trust others with their money. Our takeaway: Don’t ask your parents for a loan at Christmas (candy canes: not trust-inducing). Do use one of these lovely lavender products before making a request for funds, or parole, or…well, you get the idea.
