Celebrity nutritionist Kimberly Snyder believes beauty is achieved from the inside out. She boasts clients like Drew Barrymore, Reese Witherspoon, Rooney and Kate Mara, Dita Von Teese, and Channing Tatum, and two best-selling books. Her latest offering, The Beauty Detox Power, hit shelves this week.  Snyder is also the founder of Glow Bio, an organic smoothie, juice, and cleanse company based in Los Angeles.

Most everyone knows that what you put on your body can directly impact your appearance. But what you put in your body can have a huge impact on your outer beauty, too. My philosophy, and one that continues in The Beauty Detox Power, has always been that outer beauty is a true reflection of inner health. Here, I’ve outlined eight of my favorite beauty foods.

Acai: Acai is one of the top antioxidant-rich fruits. It is responsible for brightening dull skin by its nutrients’ renewing effect on complexion, while also protecting against aging and nourishing skin to look more radiant.

Almonds: Almonds are a wonderful aid for dry skin and also useful for other dry skin conditions, such as psoriasis. Almonds are a strong source of vitamin E— the skin-beautifying antioxidant—as well as natural oils, which create smoothness and suppleness from within.

Bee pollen: Bee pollen is packed with vitamins, minerals, and enzymes. These are essential components that enhance your overall glow, beauty, and energy.

Coconut: Coconuts are a natural hydrator, which helps with healing and rejuvenating your skin’s collagen, while restoring elasticity and flexibility to your skin. When your skin is hydrated you will look younger.

Flax seeds: Add flaxseeds into your daily diet and you’ll notice your skin becoming smoother, healthier, and more nourished. Flaxseeds have vital omega-3 fatty acids that supply the right ratio of fatty acids to your body. Omega-3 fatty acids also help prevent inflammation, which leads to dry and damaged skin.

Garlic: Not only is garlic good for your cardiovascular system, it purifies the bloodstream and enhances the detoxification to help secure more clear skin for the long term.

Pineapple: Pineapple contains potent enzymes like bromelain, which acts as an anti-inflammatory and is excellent in promoting efficient digestion, which helps create healthy and beautiful skin from the inside out. Pineapple also has high levels of vitamin C, which help in the formation of collagen.

Red bell peppers: Red bell peppers are an excellent source of vitamin C—this helps repair and regenerate collagen, the protein that gives structure to your skin. They are also a good source of the mineral silicon, which can lessen wrinkles and help make your skin more supple and youthful.
