Yahoo Beauty would like to introduce you to the New-New, a column by Beauty Director Dana Oliver about the latest products, tools, and treatments that she’d happily spend her hard-earned money on.

I’ve never been that girl whose heart fluttered when presented with a blooming bouquet of roses. Why? I hadn’t met a rose with an aroma that didn’t give me a headache or make me want to vomit.

As a beauty editor, it’s nearly impossible to avoid floral-inspired brands that formulate their products with real rosewater, petals, or oils. But after years of shying away from this “romantic” flower, I’ve finally fallen in love with the smell of roses.

French-born cosmetics creator Terry de Gunzburg first introduced the world to Baume de Rose in 2003. The sheer pink lip balm is luxurious, silky, and super hydrating — everything you’d expect from quality Parisian skin care.

Obviously, I wasn’t among high-profile Baume de Rose lip balm fans like actress Kate Winslet and celebrity makeup artist Kristofer Buckle. But the brand’s new hand cream has made me love the scent of roses.

By Terry Baume de Rose Hand Cream feels rich, both literally and figuratively. It gets its velvety, soft texture from a blend of rose butter, rose blossom essential wax, rose hip oil, and extracts of black rose and pastel rose oils. These active ingredients bestow a heavenly scent that’s not at all like the heady fragrance I’ve grown to associate with roses.

My hands are always dry from washing off samples of foundation, lipstick, and bronzer I test throughout the day. So having a really moisturizing hand cream within reach is a necessity. It takes only a pea-sized amount of Baume de Rose Hand Cream to rehydrate my skin, and this product is absolutely not greasy — no smears across my iPhone screen or laptop keyboard at all.

Here’s a helpful hint for all my family and friends: Keep the roses and gift me this fancy hand cream.
