Yahoo Autos Watch a 1200-HP Lamborghini Avoid Destruction After Its Tire Explodes on the Nürburgring
Things can go from good to bad quickly on the Nürburgring. The driver of this highly modified Lamborghini Huracán race car found that out first-hand when one of the car's rear tires exploded at high speed, sending the car into a spin. Amazingly, the car managed to avoid making contact with the barriers, leaving its expensive carbon bodywork relatively unharmed.
This car in question was built by Norwegin tuner Zyrus Engineering. Dubbed the LP1200, it's based on a Huracán Super Trofeo, and uses carbon fiber bodywork, Öhlins suspension, an Xtrac sequential gearbox, and a twin-turbo version of the car's 5.2-liter V-10 making an absurd 1200 horsepower. Development driver Fredrik Sørlie was going for a fast lap when the right rear tire disintegrated at 132 mph, causing the rear to break loose. Sørlie's quick reflexes kept the car away from the wall, saving both himself and the car from serious damage.
