BJP youth wing protests outside PM's residence, demands his resignation

Activists of the Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha (BJYM), the student wing of the opposition Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) staged vociferous protests outside Prime Minister Manmohan Singh's official 7, Racecourse Road residence on Sunday. About 800 to 1000 BJYM activists attempted to break through steel barricades to reach or enter the Prime Minister's residence over a demand for his resignation on charges of encouraging corruption in a government headed by him. Police had to resort to mild force and the direct use of water canons to disperse the agitating BJYM activists, even as BJP spokesperson Prakash Javadekar said that there would be a "Jail Bharo" agitation launched by his party between May 27 and June 2.
