Here's What Every Ferrari Should Be Named

The California name was always used on legendary V12 GT roadsters. The California T—while a great car—doesn't meet our own stringent criteria for the name. We suggest 394t Miami. It has a 3.9 liter twin turbo V8 with four-valves per cylinder (394t), and it's the perfect Ferrari for Miami. When it's rainy, top up. When it's beautiful, top down in just a few seconds. A great all-weather Ferrari.

F12berlinetta has always been a bit awkward to type. It's not a bad name, but it is an odd name. We like the idea of calling it the 634 Monza since it has a 6.3 liter V12 with four valves per cylinder and Monza is the track where F1 hosts the Italian Grand Prix. It was also a series of cars the brand made decades earlier, so it has a lineage.

(Update: An earlier version of this post called this car the 634 Fiorano, but it has been pointed out to us on Twitter that Ferrari used that name for the 599 GTB Fiorano. We knew the name was too good to be a fresh idea.)

6.3 liter V12, 770 horsepower (Ferrari's 6.3 liter V12 is available with 730 horsepower in the F12berlinetta and 680 horsepower in the GTC4Lusso)

The GTC4Lusso, which is the refreshed version of the FF, keeps Ferrari's traditional 6.3 liter V12. As it should.

Ferrari's hybrid hypercar can rev to a ridiculously high 9250 rpm. The 6.3-liter V12 engine makes 788 hp by itself. But then you add the 161 hp from the electric motor and get a grand total of 949 hp. You'll be thankful for those big rear tires if you accidentally nail the throttle too hard coming out of a corner.

Ferrari hasn't offered a manual on its mid-engined V8-powered car since the 430. While the 458 probably would have been great with a manual, the turbo power of the 488 GTB demands an automatic, simply because it's so fast you probably couldn't keep up and then you'd have a jerky mess of bad shifts, poor power delivery, and you'd look like a total asshat.
