Galpin Fisker Rocket Speedster, A 725-HP Fair-Weather Mustang

But who cares? It’s gorgeous and suitably exotic, especially as far as Mustangs are concerned.</p>

    The Mustang’s standard windshield has not been chopped, however, as with most cars calling themselves “Speedsters.” Indeed, with the rear seats still in place under that cover and the donor car’s power folding top ready for use when one removes it, the Rocket Speedster is technically still more of a regular convertible than a speedster in the traditional sense. But who cares? It’s gorgeous and suitably exotic, especially as far as Mustangs are concerned.

Less than one year ago at the 2014 L.A. Auto Show last November, famed car designer Henrik Fisker made big news, announcing he had teamed up with the talented clan of car builders at Galpin Auto Sports of Van Nuys, California, to build small numbers of a gorgeous, carbon-fiber-bodied, 725-hp supercharged Mustang that he called, aptly enough, the Rocket. Nine months later, Fisker and Galpin showed a topless version of the Rocket on the Concept Lawn at the Pebble Beach Concours d'Elegance, and announced that the “Rocket Speedster” would also become a production reality.
