1939 Hotchkiss 686 sedan

Hotchkiss isn't a well-known brand of car on this side of the Atlantic; the company's more famous for the machine guns it built during World War II. By the late 1930s, the French firm was a luxury car builder ramping up armaments for French forces in the shadow of Nazi Germany — making this 1939 example of the 680 sedan, which used the same 3.5-liter six-cylinder Hotchkiss put in tanks, a rare sight as caught by Tomas Piller. The factory was seized by the occupied French government during the war; afterwards, it continued building the 680 for several years, before fading into history.
