How cars become Photoshopped supermodels with a few clicks

We've all seen the demonstrations of how photo editing software can take everyday people and turn them into alien supermodels. What's less well appreciated is how much magic these pixel jockeys can work on inanimate objects, especially cars; most of the images produced by automakers has been altered in some way, frequenly to a point where the vehicles and their surroundings tiptoe into the uncanny valley. As a demonstration of what's possible, photographer Brent Buford captured his transformation of a BMW 3-Series from a boring parking lot drone to a heroic mountain rally champion — although I'd like to see him try this with, say, a Pontiac Aztek. There are things even Photoshop can't fix.
