Ford’s first true sports car, the Cisitalia-Ford 808XF: Flickr photo of the day

It may come as a surprise to hear that Ford's first true sports car didn't appear until 1952 -- and that when it did, it wasn't a Dearborn creation but the work of the Cisitalia firm of Turin, Italy. Ford envisioned building hundreds of the Cisitalia-Ford 808XF, but only eight were assembled; three years later, Ford would let its American-based designers build the Ford Thunderbird instead. Every weekday we feature a beautiful car shot from the Flickr universe, like this one from satchmoblue. If you have an image to share, please add it to Motoramic's Flickr group -- a sampling of which now appears on every story we post -- or send us a message via Twitter, Facebook, or Google+.
