Serena Williams left fans awestruck as she made her way to the annual Council of Fashion Designers of America (CFDA) awards ceremony, dressed in a stunning black sequined gown.

Designed by none other than CFDA Chairman Thom Browne, the curve-hugging, sultry and sparkly dress emphasized Williams’ sculpted figure, and its fabric shimmered under the bright lights of the red carpet.

The ever-so-stylish, record-breaking tennis player, 42, was presented at the November 6th event with the coveted ‘Fashion Icon’ honor.

Serena Williams Shines In Sparkly, Curve-Hugging Black Gown At The CFDA Awards

Williams became the first-ever athlete to win the award, and turned heads at the American Museum of Natural History in New York City with her frock's oversized statement sleeves, low-cut neckline, waist-defining fit and elegant long train.

To dazzle up her look even more, the Olympian added an eye-catching diamond necklace and glistening hoop earrings. As for her glam, Williams wore her caramel-colored, ombré tresses in a center-parted, slicked-back updo.

For her makeup look, the mom of two rocked smokey eyeshadow, bold black liner, voluminous lashes, radiant blush and a mauve pout to top it all off.

Before the soiree began, the multi-hyphenate opened up to the CFDA about her personal style and lifelong love of fashion. "Ever since I was a little girl, I’ve used fashion as an outlet to express myself — fashion gave me the confidence to step on the court and own who I was, and where I knew I was going," she said.

The S by Serena clothing line founder was described by designer Browne to be the "ultimate example of individuality in everything she does." (We couldn't agree more!)

On Instagram, Williams shared photos of her ensemble with her 17 million followers and they couldn't get enough. "Stunning!!!! Love it," one wrote under one of her recent posts as another added: "Always looking phenomenal!" Someone else commented: "What a beautiful dress for you!"

The style icon's famous friends also praised her outfit, with Paris Hilton writing leaving a heart-eyes emoji and Hailee Steinfeld adding: "Omg." Williams' husband of six years, Alexis Ohanian also cutely commented: "Hyyyyyyy."

Other fans conveyed their (and our) thoughts on the whole get-up with red hearts, heart-eyes and fire emojis.
