Are the Boston Celtics and Golden State Warriors the NBA’s top contenders so far?

At a bit past the halfway mark of the 2022-23 NBA season, who are the top contenders in each of the league’s two conferences? One might default to the two ball clubs who went at it in the 2022 NBA Finals given the fun of a story line pitting the Golden State Warriors against the Boston Celtics.

But the Western Conference has been seeing strong cases form around the Denver Nuggets, Memphis Grizzlies, and New Orleans Pelicans, with the Phoenix Suns perhaps included as well if you squint hard. In the East, the Brooklyn Nets, Philadelphia 76ers, and Milwaukee Bucks all ought to be in the mix with the Cleveland Cavaliers increasingly improving their argument as well.

The host of the semi-eponymous “Hoops Tonight with Jason Timpf” podcast recently made his own case for the league’s top two contenders.

Take a look at the clip embedded above to hear it.
