Olivia Wilde is getting mom-shamed for kissing her son in this Instagram photo
One of the toughest parts about having a kid is the fact that someone, somewhere, will try and question your parenting. Olivia Wilde is being mom-shamed based on an adorable photo she posted on Instagram of her and her 3-year-old son Otis. The reason why she’s getting a lot of flack? Because she’s kissing him directly on the lips.
The photo was likely meant to be uplifting. Wilde posted the memorable moment a few days after news came out about the tragic Las Vegas shooting. She probably addressed the devastating news by captioning the photo “Finding hope in this.”
The picture illustrates the incredible love between a mother and her child.

But instead of fans spreading the message of love, they had a debate as to whether or not it was okay to kiss your children on the lips. One mom-shamer wanted Wilde to know that “Kissing your kid like your husband” is “not good for him,” while others brought up topics like herpes and other spreadable illnesses.
“To you this picture may be the beauty between a mother and child. To me, it’s a mother (unknowingly) putting a child at risk. And that’s not beautiful to me,” someone commented.
Still, others rallied behind Wilde and the photo, saying that the picture shows nothing more than unconditional love.
“Shame on the trolls, haters and sick souls that want to look for wrong in something so genuine and sweet,” one fan wrote. “I myself being a mother yearn for these very moments with my son.”
Personally, we think it’s sweet. Wilde hasn’t been ashamed of showcasing a ton of personal moments she’s had with both Otis and their daughter Daisy, who just turned one yesterday, and we hope this criticism doesn’t stop her.

We’re happy that Wilde refuses to let other mothers bring her down. If one thing’s for sure, she cares so much about her kids and would never do anything to put them in danger or bring them shame.
