Dave Roberts: Dodgers Unsure What Role Dustin May Will Have

The Los Angeles Dodgers starting rotation received a boost with the return of Walker Buehler and will soon get another reinforcement as Bobby Miller is on track to begin a rehab assignment next week. Clayton Kershaw and Dustin May could potentially enter the mix at some point in the second half as well. Kershaw has been recovering from left shoulder surgery and May is on the mend from right elbow surgery. Kershaw has almost exclusively pitched as a starter since making his MLB debut in 2008, and there's no reason to think that would change this season, even with a crowded Dodgers rotation.

Dodgers Injury Update: Dustin May Hopes To Return In August Or September

Dustin May's 2023 season with the Los Angeles Dodgers was cut short due to more right elbow trouble, which limited him to just 48 innings and nine starts. The right-hander sustained a right flexor pronator strain in a start against the Minnesota Twins that required season-ending surgery.

Dodgers Injury Updates: Joe Kelly, Brusdar Graterol & Dustin May

The Los Angeles Dodgers once again find themselves in first place in the National League West division despite the numerous injuries to members of their bullpen and starting pitchers here in 2024. The bullpen has been especially remarkable with the best collective ERA since April 21, despite not having important pieces, such as Brusdar Graterol and, until recently, Blake Treinen. Joe Kelly contributed in an increased role following Ryan Braiser's injury, and he was a significant part of the quickly improving Dodgers bullpen before he was placed on the injured list. Kelly was in the position to receive high-leverage innings because of the absence of Graterol and others who were expected to have that role before the season began.
