Kelly Ripa Created a Hilarious Meme Showcasing the Progression of Her Gray Roots

Kelly Ripa has been on one helluva hair journey since lockdown started back in March, and her fans (ourselves included) have loved being along for the ride. In April, the Live With Kelly and Ryan host documented herself cutting her hair with kitchen scissors — which, for the record, we do not condone — and before that, she'd been doing a "root watch" to see how much gray hair would come in while she couldn't see her colorist.

Now, the 49-year-old is back at it with her hair-color chronicles — and this time, she's showing the month-to-month progression of her roots to demonstrate exactly how much gray grew in. The best part? She did it by way of the hilarious 2020 calendar meme; the same one that's been circulating on social media so much recently.

"Perhaps this meme is a week old at this point… but does that really compare to these roots? 😂 My version of the #2020Calendar is just...real…. 💆🏼‍♀️😉💋," Ripa wrote in an IG caption next to the meme she created, which features photos of herself from over the last nine months. The first photo was taken in January, when she was still having her hair colored on a regular basis.

As you can see for yourself, the TV host's roots were barely noticeable back in February and March — but by the time June rolled around, they had grown out at least an inch or two. While she could have easily let this bum her out, we love to see that she's chosen to make light of the situation instead, as it's exactly the kind of levity we could all use more of right now.

Since she posted the meme on Instagram, it's racked up nearly 50,000 likes, as well as countless comments from fans leaving messages like, "Still beautiful! Roots or no roots!! 🙌🏼😎," "You crack me up @kellyripa 😂👏🏻😂," and "😂😂😂 Love your 'transparency' 🤣🤣." Needless to say, folks are definitely appreciating Ripa's sense of humor, as well as her willingness to share.

Props to Ripa for serving stay-at-home hair realness yet again.
