Costco Is Putting a Stop to Toilet Paper Hoarding

The world is a scary place right now due to the COVID-19 pandemic that is quickly spreading around the globe and throughout our own neighborhoods. We’re all trying to find ways to cope with this new reality which now includes homeschooling our kids while trying to work from home ourselves. Understandably, we’re all a little panicked and that’s OK. What’s not OK is panic buying supplies like toilet paper or baby products and leaving other families without any necessities. That’s why Costco is implementing a new plan to help ensure all families have access to basic supplies like toilet paper and cleaning supplies.

Costco fan Instagram account @costco_doesitagain posted a picture stating that stores will be limiting the number of packages of toilet paper customers can purchase to one. While this is not a nationwide rule, we were able to confirm that two stores in New York state are also implementing this limit on toilet paper and select cleaning supplies so it seems that this rule is being used on a case-by-case basis.
That’s not the only measure Costco is taking to prevent shoppers from hoarding products. Another Costco fan account, @Costcodeals spotted this sign in a store that states Costco will not be accepting returns on toilet paper, cleaning supplies, water, rice and paper towels.

Hopefully, if people aren’t allowed to return unused items, they won’t stock up on an unnecessarily large amount of products. If we all buy only what we need, there will be plenty for everyone.
