This Costco Employee Is Going Super Viral For How He Handled A Customer Who Refused To Wear A Mask
Though Costco has been constantly changing its policies throughout the coronavirus pandemic to keep stores as safe as possible for customers and employees, one rule has remained in place over the past few months: Anyone who enters a Costco warehouse must be wearing a mask. In a flagrant violation of that rule, an as-of-yet-unidentified man posted a video of his confrontation with a Costco manager named Tison to Reddit that is now going viral.
Slow. Effing. Clap.
I’m signing up for a #Costco membership. That’s how you do it.

According to MarketWatch, Reddit has since deleted the video, but Twitter picked it up pretty quickly. The clip (which you can see above) begins with the man filming the mask-wearing manager, who introduces himself by saying “Hi everyone. I work for Costco and I’m asking this member to put on a mask because that is our company policy."
In response, the customer explains he won't put a mask on because he "woke up in a free country." He also explains he is filming for his 3,000 Instagram followers. From there, Tison confiscates the man's cart full of items and tells him he is "no longer welcome in [the] warehouse" and that he "[needed] to leave." The customer berates him as he walks away, calling him a "pussy little bitch." Other customers can be seen in the background of the video, standing in line six-plus feet apart from each other and wearing masks.
Since the video hit Twitter yesterday afternoon, it's amassed more than 10 million views across different accounts. #CostcoTison has also been trending in the United States with thousands praising the employee for his devotion to keeping people safe. Others noted the man did not deserve to be shamed for simply doing his job.

Any bets on who this unmasked dude supports politically?
Bravo @Costco #CostcoStrong
Most everyone in the country supports your store safety policies.
Needless to say, this is your private business & you’re💯 in your right!#CostcoTison is a hero 💪🏼👏🏼pic.twitter.com/1fIZ8RvXkq— ✨Scarlet🔥The Fiery Avenger #StayHomeStaySafe🏡Fan (@ScarletAvengers) May 20, 2020
All I see here is a responsible front line supermarket employee doing his job and enforcing company policy, he did not deserve the abuse.
Anyone who wears 🕶 inside and says words like “sheeple” loses the arguement instantly. Don’t abuse people doing their job! #CostcoTison https://t.co/FWGayA52nu— Rusty Shield (@rusty_shield) May 20, 2020
Tison appeared to take to Twitter to thank people for their support, saying he was just trying to "protect our employees and our members."
People of Twitter thank you for all of the support 🙏I was just trying to protect our employees and our members. 😘 #Tison

TMZ obtained video of the customer after the viral incident and he appeared to be unshaken in his belief that the people in Costco wearing masks were "sheep" and that he was the only one who wasn't. You can watch that follow-up video in full here.
