CNN contributor Ana Navarro files her nails on air during debate over border wall
On Wednesday’s Cuomo Prime Time on CNN, network contributor Ana Navarro brought a prop along to help emphasize her point during a heated debate with her fellow guest Steve Cortes over all things border wall.
Taking out a nail file, she made a show of using it throughout the segment. The first occasion was while discussing Donald Trump Jr.’s comparison of the border wall to the fence at a zoo.
“At the end of the day, Donald Trump Jr. and whatever he says — can I just file my nails?” Navarro said, filing her nails. “I mean, this is an entitled, rich, spoiled little brat whose only call to fame is being his daddy’s son. Who hasn’t built anything of his own, who hasn’t done anything of his own, who is somehow trying to hang on to the fame of his father in order to have some level of relevancy.”
Her antics did not go unnoticed, and the host, Chris Cuomo, called out the political strategist and commentator for her gambit.
“She’s done with the nails and the emery board — although that was a great prop. I want you to know that,” Cuomo said. “I think you probably brought it in by accident, but it worked very well for you, Ana, kudos to you.”
Navarro found another reason to use the prop later, when the topic turned to comparing the crime rates among native-born Americans and immigrants. Once Cortes starting using the term “fake news,” Navarro let out a heavy sigh and pulled out the nail file again, prompting Cuomo to point out, “She’s doing her nails again.”
Cortes was a little better prepared the second time around.
“You do your nails. You know who can’t do their nails? Are people who have been killed, Ana, by dangerous, known illegal aliens who have been allowed to stay in this country because of the leftist policies that people like you promote in so-called sanctuary cities.”
Navarro, who took issue throughout the discussion with Cortes’s assertion that she is a leftist, once again told him she was tired of it.
“I don’t care if you’re tired of it,” Cortes replied. “Go back to filing your nails.”
Cuomo Prime Time airs weeknights at 9 p.m. on CNN.
