Recycling, planting trees, and taking shorter showers are simple steps for a more sustainable planet. Another easy Earth Day action? Smart snacking. “Aim for whole foods and snacks that are plant-based and as close to nature as possible,” says Jaclyn London, NYC-based Registered Dietitian and nutrition director at Good Housekeeping. “When it comes to pre-packed snacks, check labels for foods that have a whole-food as the first ingredient – like fruit, nut, or whole-grain. 100-calorie packs of nuts or nut-butter are always a smart choice, with a piece of fruit or cup of sliced veggies.” On Wednesday, April 22, celebrate our eco-system by adding one (or more) of these light nutritious, delicious, and beauty-boasting noshes to your diet.
