Walkers and volunteers gather at Hatch Shell as JDRF One Walk is back in person
As the largest event aimed at helping those with type 1 diabetes, the JDRF One Walk is back in person Saturday after a two-year virtual walk due to COVID-19.
Hundreds of volunteers and walkers gathered at the Hatch Shell Lawn by the Charles River at around 9:30 a.m. to get ready for the 3-mile walk.

The 5k raises money and awareness about type 1 diabetes and fights relentlessly to find a cure for the disease.
According to JDRF, each year 64,000 people in the U.S. are diagnosed with T1D. Less than one-third of those with T1D are achieving target blood glucose levels—putting them at risk for complications.
There are nearly 200,000 children living with type 1 diabetes.
