State Street Saloon is back where it belongs

It's been a long time coming, but finally the State Street Saloon has reopened in the heart of downtown. The hometown favorite is now located at 43 Pleasant St., after operating for a few years in the old VFW hall on Deer Street where it found a home after its original location on State Street burned to the ground in April of 2017.

The restaurant that was the On The Marsh Bistro has been given new life. Wandby Landing is open in Kennebunk and new owners Matt and Mariah Dyer explain the restaurant's name which is a wonderful nod to local history.

Anna and Ben Stice, who recently celebrated six months since opening a Crumbl Cookies shop in Newington, are getting ready to  open a second franchise location at The Ridge shopping plaza.in Rochester.

And we got word this week that Mike and Stephanie Oliveira just sold their Donut Love business to Goodwin Family Management, the owner of New England’s Friendly Toast restaurants.

It's a story of a community showing up when someone needs help. Rolleyholers owner Bob Weygant, who opened the bagel bakery a little over a year ago, posted on Facebook saying his Exeter business was in trouble, and he received an outpouring of response online and in his bakery. It's not a forever cure but the uptick made him and the community feel great.
