JON ROTHSTEIN: Jon Rothstein here for Yahoo Sports. Time now to highlight five teams who could benefit from the amended NBA draft process. With their likely to be no combine in May in Chicago and also no pre-draft workouts, who are some teams that could really flourish next season thanks to these new NBA draft rules?

We start with Florida, the Gators were anticipating Scottie Lewis testing the waters. And he's the type of player that could flourish in a combine like setting in Chicago. Without the combine, don't be shocked if Lewis potentially goes back to school for another season, where he becomes one of the great and tangible players in all of college basketball.

Creighton could also be another team that benefits from the amended early NBA draft process because that means that Tyshon Alexander won't have a chance to dazzle scouts with his shooting ability. If Creighton can return Tyshon Alexander along with Mitch Ballock and Marcus Zegarowski, the Jays will have, arguably, the top perimeter in college basketball and a real chance to make the Final Four a year from now.

Staying in the Big East, Xavier could be another team that benefits under this new situation because it could mean the return of Naji Marshall to the Musketeers program. If Xavier gets Naji Marshall back for another year, the Musketeers will remain a top 40-ish type team and a team that could make the NCAA tournament in 2021.

Meanwhile, elsewhere in the Midwest, Illinois could be a team that could unexpectedly benefit by the current circumstances around our country due to coronavirus. Ayo Dosunmu looked like a lock to leave school after a sophomore season this year at Illinois. But given the circumstances and given the fact that we're not seeing as many fringe players for the first round of the NBA draft immediately declare for the draft, Dosunmu could return next season to Illinois and give Brad Underwood a legitimate chance to have Illinois compete for a Big 10 regular season title. With Dosunmu, if he does return, and Trent Frazier, Illinois would have one of the more seasoned perimeters in the country to complement a dynamite frontline of Kofi Cockburn and Giorgi Bezhanishvili.

And then lastly, another team that could benefit from the new NBA draft situation is Texas Tech. Chris Beard has shown a pension for developing all sorts of talent. Jahmi'us Ramsey also fits that bill. Ramsey had a sporadic freshman season, battled some injuries. But he's the type of player that could come back and be an All-American as a sophomore and would be a catalyst to Texas Tech getting back and primed and ready for another deep NCAA tournament run.

Those are five programs that could benefit from the amended NBA draft process for 2020. I'm Jon Rothstein. This is Yahoo Sports.
