Slovenia's government recognises Palestinian state, needs parliamentary approval
The Slovenian government on Thursday approved a decision to recognise an independent Palestinian state, Prime Minister Robert Golob said, following in the steps of Spain, Ireland and Norway. "Today the government has decided to recognise Palestine as an independent and sovereign state," he said at a news conference in Ljubljana. The parliament of the European Union member country must also approve the government's decision in coming days.

Wegovy maker Novo Nordisk sues nine spas, clinics and pharmacies over copycat drugs
Novo Nordisk said on Thursday it had sued nine more medical spas, wellness clinics and pharmacies in the U.S. for selling products claiming to contain semaglutide, the key ingredient in its popular weight-loss drug Wegovy. The Danish drugmaker first filed lawsuits over the sale of copycat versions of semaglutide last June, later amending one after samples it tested were found to be as much as 33% impure.

A trial to determine how much Ohio's historical society must pay to restore public access to a set of ancient ceremonial earthworks that has been leased for over a century to a country club has been rescheduled for July 15. The 2,000-year-old Octagon Earthworks near Newark in central Ohio are part of the Hopewell Ceremonial Earthworks network named a UNESCO World Heritage Site in September. Native Americans constructed the earthworks, including eight long earthen walls, that correspond to lunar movements.

Bus crashes into gorge in India-controlled Kashmir, killing at least 21 people
A bus carrying Hindu pilgrims skidded and rolled into a deep gorge on a mountainous highway in Indian-controlled Kashmir on Thursday, killing at least 21 people, officials said. Health official Akhnoor Saleem Khan said 35 passengers were injured in the accident and some of them were in serious condition. The crash happened in the Jammu region when the bus plunged 150 feet (45.7 meters) into the gorge.

NTSB now leading probe into deadly Ohio building explosion
The National Transportation Safety Board is now leading the investigation into a massive explosion that blew out much of the ground floor of an apartment building in Ohio this week, killing a bank employee and injuring several other people. The NTSB said pipeline and hazardous materials investigators arrived in Youngstown on Wednesday night, and would announce more details at a news briefing on Thursday. The explosion shook downtown Youngstown around 2:45 p.m. Tuesday, collapsing part of the ground floor of Realty Tower into its basement and sending the façade across a street where both sides had been blocked off by orange construction barriers.
