Not every county will count mail-in ballots before Election Day

Not every Maryland jurisdiction plans to canvass mail-in ballots received before Election Day, but Baltimore City and Baltimore County will. The Maryland State Board of Elections told 11 News the following jurisdictions plan to conduct pre-Election Day canvassing of mail-in ballots: Allegany, Baltimore, Calvert, Frederick, Howard, Montgomery, Prince George's, St. Mary's and Washington counties and Baltimore City. As of Thursday, the following boards of elections plan to canvass mail-in ballots on Nov. 10: Anne Arundel, Caroline, Carroll, Cecil, Charles, Dorchester, Garrett, Harford, Kent, Queen Anne's, Somerset, Talbot, Wicomico and Worcester counties. This comes after the Maryland Court of Appeals ruled the ballots can be counted prior to Nov. 8.
