North Carolina high school football scores for Week 5 in Gastonia, Shelby, NC

Bessemer City 47, Thomas Jefferson 24: Jameer Holmes threw five touchdown passes and ran for another in the Yellow Jackets’ (1-4, 1-0 Southern Piedmont 1A/2A) win. Javontre Duff was on the receiving end of three TDs, with Randall Pettus and Josiah Coleman also scoring a TD. Bessemer City’s Terrance Smith also had a 60-yard touchdown run.

Bunker Hill 7, Lincolnton 6: Lincolnton found itself on the wrong end of a defensive slugfest, falling to 1-3 (0-1 Catawba Valley 2A).

AREA RESULTS FROM WEEK 5:Gastonia, Shelby area high school football scores Week 5

Burns 74, Highland Tech 0: Ben Mauney threw five touchdowns as the Bulldogs routed Highland Tech. Kahari Surratt was on the receiving end of two of those, with Cahari Haynes, Ryan Thompson and L.J. Allen also catching TD passes. Treyzail Norris rushed for two touchdowns, with Jeremiah Norris and Graham Warlick also rushing for TDs. Marshall McGowan returned an interception for a TD. Burns is 5-0 (1-0 Southern Piedmont 1A/2A), while Highland Tech is 0-5 (0-1).

East Gaston 13, Cherokee 7: East Gaston evened its record at 2-2.

East Lincoln 28, Hickory 12: Christopher Daley rushed for three touchdowns, while Tyler Mizzell and Markell Clark connected on another TD to push East Lincoln to 4-0 (1-0 Western Foothills 3A).

Forestview 20, North Gaston 0: With a win in its league opener, Forestview has even its record this season to 2-2 (1-0 Big South 3A). North Gaston is 0-4 (0-1).

Kings Mountain 44, Hunter Huss 14: Caleb Holland and Teddy Jeffries each had two touchdowns, with A.J. Richardson and Robert Kendrick adding a TD as Kings Mountain (4-0, 1-0 BIg South 3A) defeated Hunter Huss (1-3, 0-1).

Pine Lake Prep 30, Mountain Island Charter 0: The Raptors (2-1, 0-1 Catawba Shores 1A/2A) are shut out for their first loss of the 2022 season.

Shelby 70, Cherryville 0: Daylin Lee threw six touchdown passes as Shelby (2-3, 1-0 Southern Piedmont 1A/2A) routed Cherryville. JaKeith Hamilton caught two of them, with Eli Falls, Izay Bridges, Milan Daniels and Tristan Tate each catching one. Santana London threw a touchdown pass to T.J. Griffin and rushed for a touchdown. Bricen Kee also scored a TD. Cherryville is 2-3 (0-1).

South Point 47, Stuart Cramer 14: South Point (4-0, 1-0 Big South 3A) racked up 526 yards total offense — 486 rushing — on its way to the win against Stuart Cramer (2-2, 0-1). Patrick Blee rushed for 176 yard with two touchdowns, with Dawson Tobin rushing for 121 yards with a TD. Cam Medlock rushed for 97 yards and three touchdowns. Stuart Cramer quarterback Justin Rocquemore threw touchdown passes to Isaiah Johnson and Tyler Ward.

Statesville 15, North Lincoln 9: North Lincoln dropped its league opener to fall to 0-4, 0-1 in Western Foothills 3A.

West Lincoln 35, Bandys 28: Trailing 21-7 at halftime, West Lincoln (4-0, 1-0 Catawba Valley 2A) scored 28 of the game’s final 35 points to remain unbeaten. Mason Avery rushed for 269 yards with four touchdowns. Gideon Allen also had a TD run.
