This North Brooklyn School Is One Of The Best In The Country: Ranking

BROOKLYN, NY — A school in North Brooklyn has been named among the best not just in New York City, but nationwide.

The Brooklyn Latin School on Graham Avenue was among 11 city schools that made the top 100 in the U.S. News and World Report's latest "Best High Schools" annual ranking.

The Williamsburg high school was one of only two in Brooklyn that got a top spot. Brooklyn Technical High School in Fort Greene also made the list.

It is not the first time both schools have earned top grades in the ranking. Last year, the Brooklyn Latin School landed second in New York's best schools and 66th in the national ranking.

In the 2022 list, it slid slightly to ninth best in New York and 79th-best in the country, according to the list.

This year's schools were ranked on six measures: college readiness, college curriculum breadth, state assessment performance, state assessment proficiency, reading and math proficiency, reading and math performance, underserved student performance and graduation rates.

The data used in this year's ranking is from the 2019-20 academic school year. U.S. News adjusted its calculation of these measures to account for the impact COVID-19 had on schools in the 2019-20 school year.
