Just last month Burger King took its Impossible Whopper nationwide, and we couldn't help but speculate a little about when McDonalds would join the bandwagon. Now we've got answers. The iconic fast food chain began selling its own plant-based burger-dubbed the Big Vegan Burger TS-late last month.

Though the meatless patty launched exclusively in Germany (it's one of the company's five leading international markets), this is a good sign! While we may not have the luxury to chow down on vegan Big Macs right now, this might indicate a U.S. launch is happening soon.

According to CNN, Nestle developed the plant-based product used for the burger. The Garden Gourmet Incredible Burger, which was created with soy and wheat protein, has ingredients like beets, carrots, and bell peppers that mimic the meat-like texture and aesthetic.

The company is reportedly planning to bring the "Incredible Burger" to the U.S. market this fall under the Sweet Earth Brand, though this doesn't necessarily mean Micky D's will adopt it immediately. A rep for McDonald's told the outlet that "markets decide what's best for their customers" and "the launch of the Big Vegan TS in Germany is the latest example of that."

But considering the popularity of similar products-the Impossible Burger AND Beyond Burger are killing it-I have a hunch the market will decide a plant-based Burger is best. In April, a Change.org petition garnered more than 200,000 signatures from fans begging McDonald's to introduce a vegan option to menus.

However, this isn't the brand's foray into plant-based. Finland and Sweden McDonald's introduced a soy patty, the McVegan Burger, two years ago. On behalf of the entire country, I'd just like to say WE ARE READY.
