Hi, how are you?

ANTHONY COLE: How are you?

NURYS CASTILLO: I am so excited and terrified at the same time, 'cause we're going to do this really nice graduation hairstyle for people that are having a virtual graduation.

ANTHONY COLE: All right. So it's going to be super easy. It's like really making two braids, and then we're going to fasten them into one.

NURYS CASTILLO: Oh, I'm excited for that. All right. So I have to part my hair, correct?

ANTHONY COLE: Yep. You're going to use a tail comb. And then the first thing that I did-- Let's-- let's start with my-- a little bit of a prep so it can kind of help them. I use Sebastian Professional Shampoo, Sebastian's Dark Oil.

NURYS CASTILLO: Yes, I have that.

ANTHONY COLE: And then I'm going to do-- I'm going to have a combination of Potion 9, and then the product that I'm going to be using to finish the braid will be Zero Gravity Sebastian.

Let's start. Let's get some Potion 9 in your hands. Yeah.

NURYS CASTILLO: OK.

ANTHONY COLE: We're gonna do about one, two, three in your hands.

NURYS CASTILLO: OK.

ANTHONY COLE: And then you're going to take some dark-- Sebastian Dark Oil, and then you're going to take about two hits of that right there. And then we're going to put them all together like that.

NURYS CASTILLO: Why are you mixing two?

ANTHONY COLE: The Sebastian Potion 9 is a leave-in conditioner that's wearable as well as it's an amazing product to do blow-outs. It helps smooth the hair down. You're going to get UV protection from it as well. And then adding the Dark Oil into it, the Dark Oil has a Diffuse-X technology in it. It will help the product to smooth through the hair as well and bring us body from the inside and shine from the inside out.

NURYS CASTILLO: Wow. Awesome.

ANTHONY COLE: So you're going to put that all through your hair, and then I want you to brush it and comb it through. Make sure you really get it in from the bottom all over the top really good.

And you see the shine that you're getting already? Like, you're getting a really, really beautiful natural shine to the hair already. It's looking great.

So we're going to do a dramatic overpart. You can start it right at your recession, like right down to the recession. Right there. Yeah.

Take the comb, and I want you to see-- if you see the mannequin, I want you to bring it from the recession all the way down to the corner of the nape. Exactly. Perfect.

NURYS CASTILLO: My god, I'm doing so good already? Stop.

ANTHONY COLE: You are. Now take all that hair from that side that you made the part, and comb it all the way over. You see how this is? Perfect.

And now I want you to take an elastic part on your heavy side part. Yes. And hold it as close as you can to your neck. Yes. And now put your-- your-- yeah. Exactly. Yep. Break that in half, and then bring it up a little bit. Yes.

Take that part of your hair. Now I want you to comb it all the way to the other side. So we're going to be doing something like this on the mannequin. Right there.

Perfect. Perfect. And we're going to take some dark oil, Sebastian Dark Oil. Take a little bit of Potion 9 as well. Put that, maybe two of them, in your hands like that now, and really emulsify together really good. And now let's really get it-- get it into the hair.

When we're doing a braid, we're going to hold the braid, and we're going to break it into three pieces like this. We'll have two on the sides, one piece in the middle. And then what we're going to do is a simple three-stranded brain like this. You're going to take your right hand and bring it over the middle one, then you're going to take your left hand and bring it over that. We're going to tie it at the bottom with a small elastic.

So let's do the same thing. We're going to take the Sebastian Dark Oil--

NURYS CASTILLO: OK.

ANTHONY COLE: --Potion 9, and we're going to put that into-- into there, and we're going to mix these both together.

Potion 9, it's got nine botanical oils in it that will help to condition the hair, keep it shiny, keep it very super natural looking.

NURYS CASTILLO: Anthony, you've been working for Sebastian for a really long time, right?

ANTHONY COLE: A really long time, yes. I'm on the international team. I travel all around the world with them. I lead Fashion Week for them and for New York.

My last designer that I worked with was Christian Siriano. So I was working with him for five years. I lead his runway. I just led his first show in Paris as well.

NURYS CASTILLO: That's awesome! I love him. He's amazing.

ANTHONY COLE: Yeah. OK. So now we have two braids.

NURYS CASTILLO: [INAUDIBLE]

ANTHONY COLE: And you have two successful braids. Awesome. Cheers.

So now we're going to take our Zero Gravity. Sebastian Zero Gravity, I use it for finishing and working. We're going to take that and spray the braid. Both sides, both braids, and both sides of the braid. So go under the braid and over the braid.

NURYS CASTILLO: I have some, like, little flyaways here.

ANTHONY COLE: Flyaways, yeah. When you have the flyaways, get a little bit more of your-- get some Potion 9, take a dot of it into your hands, and go over the braid.

NURYS CASTILLO: I look better than her, I just have to say.

ANTHONY COLE: [LAUGHS] OK. So the ne-- first, we're going to go back to the first braid. Now, I want you to hold it tight there. And then I want you to go above it. And then gently, with two fingers-- just gently, I want you to start opening the braid, just like this. Don't worry about the layers. Let's just get this really nice and open. Yes. Yeah, there you go-- little corners like that. And you pull them out little by little. And this part, you really don't want to rush with, because you just want to really just open it up.

[FAST FORWARD]

And what's really beautiful is you've got this straight, and then it goes into the braid. And the contrast of both is really, really beautiful. So we're going to do the same thing to this back braid. We're going to take Potion 9 in your hands. We're going to takes some dark oil into the hands. Swish it through. And we're going to work it down. And then I'm also going to take a little bit of spray, put it on.

And this back one, we really want to make sure that-- yeah. So make sure that when you are holding it where your plastic is, go right above that elastic. And make sure that you're pulling the braid apart so that you can really get it to open up nicely-- and really super gently.

[FAST FORWARD]

That looks really, really good.

NURYS CASTILLO: I have [INAUDIBLE].

ANTHONY COLE: So you have your bobby pins, right?

NURYS CASTILLO: I have my bobby pins. I have big ones, and I have small ones.

ANTHONY COLE: Oh, good. So yeah, you're going to want to use a smaller one.

NURYS CASTILLO: Smaller ones, OK.

ANTHONY COLE: Now, we're going to take this one-- this back one here. And I want you to take it, and I want you to hold this up, and then bring this-- bring it forward. Exactly. Now, when you bring that forward, you're going to be here. I want you to take a pin, go into your elastic--

NURYS CASTILLO: Mm.

ANTHONY COLE: --and then put it into the braid. So you're actually almost holding the braid in with the pin. You're going to take it. You're going to weave it into the braid that stands behind it. And give it, like, a little weave.

The next thing we're going to do is we're going to hold these braid together. You're going to take a little Zero Gravity. So you have them both together like this, and spray it. And then what we're going to do is we're going to take another pin. And what we're going to do is we're going to keep them side-by-side with one another. Now watch. I'm going to go into this braid like this. And then I'm almost going to do as if I was sewing--

NURYS CASTILLO: OK.

ANTHONY COLE: --like that, because you're going to almost, like, attach them together.

[FAST FORWARD]

And then when we get to the bottom, where you have this here, you can take this and kind of wrap it behind it a little bit. LIke, you know you can see-- like you see here? I'm coming in, and then I'm going to, like, kind of bend behind it. And then I'm going to take my pin and fasten that as well.

NURYS CASTILLO: It's getting very-- I think because of my layers--

ANTHONY COLE: Spray your Zero Gravity. And also, use your Potion 9. Now, for those of those who have a lot of layers in their hair, when they have this going on, you can take a blow dryer on a really low temperature-- the spray, and then hit the blow dryer to it. And the blow dryer will also help. And then if somebody wanted, they-- right here, they can actually put, like, an accessory.

NURYS CASTILLO: Oh, I love that. What's that?

ANTHONY COLE: Just, like, an accessory. And then what they could do is just take that, clip it on, and then they can--

NURYS CASTILLO: Gorgeous. I have an accessory. Do you want to see it?

ANTHONY COLE: Yes, I do.

NURYS CASTILLO: I mean, I graduated years ago. But I have my graduation hat.

ANTHONY COLE: That's awesome! Yes.

NURYS CASTILLO: I think it would be best that I put it on so people could see that you could--

ANTHONY COLE: Yeah.

NURYS CASTILLO: --actually wear it with your hat.

ANTHONY COLE: Yeah.

NURYS CASTILLO: [GASPS] Oh!

[INTERPOSING VOICES]

ANTHONY COLE: That looks so good. So just--

NURYS CASTILLO: [INAUDIBLE]

ANTHONY COLE: --get that bottom piece over there, and I want you to bring it up behind you. Before you bring it up behind, spray it first with Sebastian Zero Gravity. After you're done, like, hold it with your hands a little bit. And now put it behind, and then weave a pin right there. That looks awesome.

NURYS CASTILLO: My God. I'm ready.

ANTHONY COLE: You did a very good job. Let me just give you a few little other tips that people can do. They can take this braid as well, and they can turn it into a little bit of a side bun.

NURYS CASTILLO: I love that.

ANTHONY COLE: Like, just putting a little pin in there. And then they have, like, a little side bun if they don't want to wear it down. Now, here's a great thing. So for instance, you did your thing. You're going to take your hat off now. Maybe you're going to do a virtual party, or you're going to go out somewhere.

You can take a flat iron, and then flat iron both of these really, really good-- like now, before you even go out. Once it's all done, and you take it out, you'll have this really beautiful, natural, beachy kind of wave. And then you can add an accessory to it.

NURYS CASTILLO: Anthony, thank you so much! Congratulations to all the graduates, and thank you again. Bye!

ANTHONY COLE: Take care. Bye!
