He said a Russian shell hit a high-rise building in the town of Lysychansk, killing a girl instantly. Another four civilians were hospitalized with injuries of varying severity.

"It was a hard day for the town – the Druzhba cinema was destroyed by a missile strike, (and) 22 houses were damaged," Hayday said.

According to the governor, the situation in the town of Severodonetsk is even worse. The Russians are advancing, and fighting around the town continues.

One woman died in an enemy attack on her house in one of the older districts of the town, Hayday said. The Russian military destroyed 13 houses in Severodonetsk, 11 in Hirske, seven in Toshkivka, as well as six in Vrubivka and two in Nyrkove.

The enemy also launched missile strikes near Ustynivka, but suffered losses and retreated to previously occupied positions near Bobrove.

At the same time, the Ukrainian military repulsed seven attacks at the front, destroying one tank and six enemy vehicles, while Ukrainian air defenses destroyed a Russian Orlan-10 reconnaissance UAV.

According to Ukraine's General Staff, the invaders have used artillery in their attack on Severodonetsk over the past day. Fighting for control of the town is underway.

Previously, Hayday said that the Russian invaders were shelling the town with all possible weapons, but they had managed to capture only the Mir Hotel on the outskirts of Severodonetsk.

As of May 25, the invaders had captured over 95% of Luhansk Oblast.
