Joey Votto, Ian Happ to be miked at Field of Dreams Game; throwback uniforms revealed
Reds first baseman Joey Votto did not disappoint when he was miked up on ESPN2 for Cincinnati's season-opener against the Braves in Atlanta.
So there was plenty of excitement on social media when Major League Baseball Public Relations announced Monday that Votto and former UC Bearcats standout Ian Happ of the Chicago Cubs - a first-time All-Star earlier this season - will wear two-way mics and join Thursday's Fox broadcast in a live conversation from the field.
Play-by-play announcer Joe Davis and analyst John Smoltz are scheduled to broadcast the MLB at Field of Dreams Game on Fox between the Reds and Cubs, live in Dyersville, Iowa, on Thursday.
MLB unveiled throwback uniforms Monday for Thursday's game. The Reds' are inspired by the uniforms they wore in 1919, when they won the World Series against Shoeless Joe Jackson and the Chicago White Sox. The Cubs' are from their National League pennant-winning 1929 season.

Retro logos of both teams have been cut into the corn beyond the right-field fence.
More social media reactions, including from Votto :
We’ll be talking to each other, walkie talkie style.
Me - Nice swing Ian.
Ian - Hey man, thanks, you too.
Me - Beautiful day, huh?
Ian - Yup, if you build it, they will come, I always say. https://t.co/VxQxAseXki— Joey Votto (@JoeyVotto) August 9, 2022

Dearest Mother —
I stumbled upon the uniforms of old as we prep for a battle surrounded by corn later this week. The event will be like no other, excitement now present across The Redleg Brigade. The fluffy cubbies stand no chance, our muskets will be ready for anything.
