EULA - Jim Ned boys' basketball's winning ways carried into the first day of the Eula Holiday Classic.

The Indians beat Lingleville (62-46) and Holliday (47-38) to start the tournament. They have now won nine of their past 10 games and are 12-6 overall.

The Holliday game was close until late in the game. Jim Ned led 23-20 at halftime but did enough in the second half to escape with a nine-point win.

"Early on in the third quarter, we pushed the ball and played a little bit more up tempo," Jim Ned head coach Blake Allen said. "That helps us tremendously."

Jim Ned dominated in the paint, both offensively and defensively.

The Indians racked up several offensive boards, leading to key second-chance baskets. And defensively, Ben Eshelman notched a handful of key blocks, three of which came in the final minute of the game.

"That's kind of our game plan," Allen said. "At the end of the day, those guys are hard to score on."

With 14 points, Xavier Wishert was Jim Ned's leading scorer. Eshelman also reached double figures with 10 points, and seven of the team's players contributed to the scoring effort.

The Holliday win was the Indians' fifth in a row. They have grown steadily and developed a strong team chemistry throughout the first month and a half of the season.

"We've played a lot of basketball since Thanksgiving," Allen said. "They're just coachable. We're using game situations to teach and coach, and they're responding well. I feel like the pieces are starting to fall and we're getting our legs under us."
