The Archbishop Hoban boys golf team is off to a fast start in 2022 with first-place finishes, course- and school-record performances and a hole-in-one.

In a seven-day span, Hoban senior Nolan Haynes and junior Jack Vojtko accomplished their notable feats in American Junior Golf Association summer tournaments and senior Jake Ryan and sophomore Chris Pollak triumphed in high school invitationals.

Haynes carded an 11-under-par 60 on Aug. 5 in the AJGA Justin Thomas Junior Championship at Harmony Landing Country Club in Goshen, Kentucky. He made nine birdies and an eagle to compile a 60 and set a course record at Harmony Landing and tie the AJGA boys lowest 18 holes record. The previous record holder was the tournament namesake, current PGA Tour member Justin Thomas. Thomas grew up playing Harmony Landing where his father, Mike, was the head professional.

"Sixty, that is unfathomable" Hoban coach Quinn Parker said. "Not many people ever get to that, regardless if they are a professional or an amateur. That is unbelievable. He set the course record and did it in a big tournament. Amazing. Speechless. Anyone that knows anything about golf, that is amazing shooting 60."

"Our main goal is to get back to Columbus, put up some really good scores and do our best to try to win a state championship," Ryan said. "We are taking it one tournament at a time and keeping our heads at the right level. We are trying not to get too far ahead of ourselves and focus on one event at a time."
